After fourteen editions of the Clásica Aguere, the Real Automóvil Club de Tenerife (RACT) is launching a new alternative event in the classic motor national agenda: the Clásica de Verano (Summer Classic). It will be held on July 12th and will be an annual, itinerant event. For its very first edition, the Villa of Güímar has been chosen as the venue for this new race.

The idea was first posed by RACT President Miguel Hernández Calzadilla during a Club lunch meeting in February, where it was initially proposed as a “Spring Classic.” However, to encourage greater participation, the event was finally set in July and given the final name of Clásica de Verano – “Trofeo Ciudad de Güímar” (Summer Classic – “Villa of Güímar Trophy”.

The rally will maintain the spirit of the former Clásica Aguere, with an accessible and friendly format: technical checks on Friday afternoon and the rally on Saturday morning. The starting point will be Plaza de San Pedro, with a mid-way stop at El Puertito and the finish at Finca Salamanca, where lunch and the awards ceremony will take place.

According to Leopoldo Mansito, the RACT race director, the road-book will be simple and will evoke historical stages of motorsport in the Güímar Valley, an area with a rich tradition and passion for motorsports.

With this new event, RACT aims to continue the legacy of the Clásica Aguere, improving organizational aspects and adapting to new locations on the island, to the delight of drivers, navigators, and spectators.
